Dziewcząt i kobiet z ADHD często się nie zauważa. Dotychczas ich problemy rzadko przedstawiano w literaturze. Ponieważ nie są hałaśliwymi i niesfornymi chłopcami, wpisującymi się w stereotypowe postrzeganie ADHD, przez długi czas pozostawały niezidentyfikowane. Stanowią grupę, która nie rzuca się w oczy i toczy samotną walkę, często pełną cierpienia, rozczarowania, frustracji i rozpaczy. Jednak ta sytuacja się zmienia!
Prezentowana publikacja łączy najnowszą wiedzę naukową na temat ADHD u kobiet z doświadczeniami życiowymi konkretnych dziewcząt i kobiet z ADHD. Ukazuje, jak wyglądają różne etapy ich życia – dzieciństwo, okres dojrzewania, macierzyństwo, menopauza i inne.
Warto, by każda dziewczyna i kobieta, u której zdiagnozowano ADHD lub która sądzi, że może mieć ADHD, przeczytała tę książkę. Pomoże im ona zrozumieć siebie, odpowiedzieć na pytania „jak” i „dlaczego”, a także zastanowić się nad tym, „co dalej”.
Jest lekarką konsultantką specjalizującą się w medycynie ogólnej i psychiatrii, a także profesorką psychiatrii w Katedrze Zdrowia Kobiet i Dzieci na Uniwersytecie w Uppsali oraz w Katedrze Neurologii Klinicznej w Instytucie Karolinska.
Autorka sześciu popularnonaukowych książek. Działa w organizacjach non profit i stowarzyszeniach pacjentów. Jej praca naukowa koncentruje się na ADHD i chorobach współistniejących (zaburzeniach osobowości, nastroju i związanych z używaniem substancji psychoaktywnych), a także na różnicach płciowych i czynnikach hormonalnych związanych z neurodywersyfikacją i ADHD. Zwolenniczka holistycznego, wzmacniającego, ugruntowanego naukowo podejścia do zdrowia psychicznego, neurodywersyfikacji i praw kobiet.
