Synopsis

Publikacja wynika z realizacji międzynarodowego projektu badawczego „3S RECIPE – Smart Shrinkage Solutions – Fostering Resilient Cities in lnner Peripheries of Europe”. Jego przedmiotem jest prężność/elastyczność miejska (urban resilience), rozpatrywana w kontekście zarówno obecnie obserwowanego. jak i potencjalnego kurczenia się ośrodków zurbanizowanych Europy.

Autorzy książki podjęli próbę uporządkowania zagadnień terminologicznych oraz metodycznych na gruncie polskim, prezentując ilościowe i jakościowe podejścia do oceny miejskiej prężności. Monografia zawiera przegląd aktualnej wiedzy z zakresu geografii społeczno-ekonomicznej i gospodarki przestrzennej z odniesieniem do dorobku pozostałych nauk społecznych, a także nauk o Ziemi i środowisku oraz inżynieryjno-technicznych. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono w niej przybliżeniu istoty i możliwości praktycznego wykorzystania innowacyjnej metody Urban Futures, która wspiera perspektywiczną ewaluację szerokiego spektrum działań na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju – od mikroprojektów po działania w obrębie ośrodków metropolitalnych. Zaprezentowana metoda, rozwinięta dzięki współpracy reprezentantów nauk stosowanych i społecznych, a także władz lokalnych i przedstawicieli sektora prywatnego, oferuje realne wsparcie procesów planowania rozwoju miast.
