Badanie to analizuje zmienne granice i tożsamości w relacjach polsko-ukraińskich od XVII do XX wieku, skupiając się na konstrukcji Inności. Poprzez analizę wydarzeń historycznych i literatury, w szczególności Ogniem i mieczem Sienkiewicza oraz Taras Bulba Gogola, bada, w jaki sposób tożsamości narodowe były kształtowane przez konflikty i zmiany terytorialne. Badanie podkreśla rolę literatury w utrwalaniu podziałów etnicznych i konstruowaniu granic kulturowych.
