About Restless Nights of Polish Piligrims Tour Holy Land in XVI Age
One of the most universal and timeless practice is going on a pilgrimage. Tradition of peregrinatio
religiosa can be found in every anthropological reality. Developing throughout the centuries pilgrim’s
movement, in the end of middle age, causes birth of peregrinationes maiores, which is larger pilgrimage, in
organised groups. One of the most popular pilgrim destinations was The Holy Land. Among Poles, who
took a risk of pilgrimage to the Grave of the Christ, and who wrote left diary, are for example: Anzelm
Polak, Jan Goryński and Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł Sierotka. The descriptions of their voyages were
very popular among the readers, mostly because of the practical information, which were priceless for
those who also wanted to see the Lord’s Grave. The purpose of this article is to answer such questions like:
