When Everything Turns into the Opposite — an Attempt to Construct and Organise Rules of Oneiric Technique in the Jacek Dukaj’s The Plunderer’s Daughter

Maria Podraza-Kwiatkowska introduces the term called oneiric technique, basing its construction on
analysis of choosen works of authors. Oneiric technique consists of several elements, which are: unreal,
miraculous construction of the world depicted, lack of logical connection, condensation of space and
time, intensive affection and extreme egocentricity. Introduced term is intriguing, but it can be enriched
even further, which is the main objective of the article. Analysis of phantasm, oneiros and enantiodromy
theories will illuminate issues of oneiric structure in literature and will allow to enrich oneiric technique
definition with new, more specific elements. Itroduced aspects will be elaborated on examples from Jacek
Dukaj’s book The Plunderer’s Daughter.
