44 Rehearsals of His Own Death. Dream as A Taboo in Tadeusz Kantor’s Art

The article reviews dreams as materiality not only for psychologic analysts but also for literature-specialists.
The first part of the article presents general overview of Tadeusz Kantor as director and former
of Today’s my birthday performance which was his last performance. The special attention is given to
dream which is present in performance and has a special place there. This case can be anatomised with
Sigismund Freud’s psychoanalysis which resulted in artist’s fear of death. The second part of the article
describes Tadeusz Kantor’s autobiographical dream about similar questions. Authentic description of the
dream written just after waking up is a point of the article and summarised that Tadeusz Kantor’s output
is oneiric and can be described by psychoanalyses of Freud and Jung.
