In our modern world, German studies must also be adapted to the requirements of our time, so the content and methods of teaching must also be reviewed in order to ensure good career opportunities to our students. In the present work, the abilities and competencies that translators should have in order to be able to work in certified translation agencies are briefly described. Because only by adapting to the job market and the expectations of customers and translation agencies can it be guaranteed that our students can gain a foothold in the job market after their graduation and can also live from their work in the long term. The topicality and relevance of the topic results from the fact that more and more students strive for a career as a translator.
