Obserwowany w ostatniej dekadzie nowy etap rozwoju miast w kierunku smart & sustainable cities wymaga wiedzy zarówno o naturze zmian, jak i dostępnych możliwościach pozwalających na bogacenie się miast i wzrost poziomu życia ich mieszańców w warunkach określonych strategią Przemysłu 4.0 oraz strategią zrównoważonego, odpowiedzialnego rozwoju.
Dzięki tej monografii Czytelnik zapozna się z kontekstem strategicznym transformacji cyfrowej miast, a także z zarysem nowej metodyki zarządzania projektami miejskimi, uwzględniającej korzyści oraz bariery ekonomiczne, społeczne i środowiskowe. W publikacji omówiono też podstawy teoretyczne koncepcji smart & sustainable city i aktualne trendy w transformacji cyfrowej miast. Ilustracyjny przykład wykorzystania zaprezentowanych nowych idei odnosi się do wystawy Horticultural Expo 2024, która ma być zorganizowana przez miasto Łódź.
