In the World of Sleep and Dream of Bolesław Prus’s The Doll Heroes
The aim of the article is to present sleep and dream of Bolesław Prus’s The Doll heroes. All of the characters of the novel lived in a world of dreams, by what the author wanted to show that these experiences accompany every human being. With dreams of literary records of the era of positivism, personal issues emerge and are accompanied by more general context. Often dreams of literary heroes bring wide prospect of social and national life. Most of all, however, they are something of an extension waking, not while its denial. Dream analysis of The Doll’s heroes broaden our understanding of the character, revealing often surprising facts. Wokulski is unhappily in love with a woman, in whose soul goes ceaseless struggle between love and infatuation flashes of sober criticism. This “incurable dreamer who has not regained sense”, a lifelong striving to achieve your dreams. Izabela appears a title doll, a vain woman, incapable of any feelings, a swinging in the clouds dreamer whose dreams are representatives of the desires and concerns. Rzecki is a political idealist, torn between an imaginary reality and the real world overwhelming him. His dreams play an important role because of the dream image, internal dilemmas and concerns. Julian Ochocki is a very capable 3rd generation idealists. Seems to be a genius inventor, while he is indeed a man naive in terms of consequences, in bringing the dream machine. It is a type of a sleepwalker and a dreamer. It is characterised by the search for the road to other worlds and the desire to break away from reality.
