The volume Geographical names in physical space is the third part of the scientific project Nomina loci, elaborated in the onomastic center of the University of Łódź on the basis of discussions during the 18th International and Polish Onomastic Conference “Microtoponymy and macrotoponymy”. The first volume was published in 2024 under the name Microtoponymy and macrotoponymy. Preliminary problems. The book presents general and theoretical issues concerning the geonymy in its oico- and anoiconymic dimension. The second one Microtoponyms and macrotoponyms in communication and literature appeared in 2025 and was dedicated to reflection on the functioning of micro- and macrotoponyms in various communication plants, and to literary onomastics (here can be found the analysis of toponyms in formal terms, pragmatic and cultural, as well as their reference to the sphere of media and literary communication).
The monograph Geographical names in physical space continues reflections on the toponymy, with particular focusing on the functioning of micro- and macrotoponymic units (place and terrain names) in a wider meaning physical space. This space consists of the natural landscape, the terrain, the hydrography, which are connected with specific regions and topographical objects, as well as forms that constitute the structure of towns and villages.
