SAMUEL SCHEFFLER jest profesorem na Wydziale Filozofii Uniwersytetu Nowojorskiego. Zajmuje się przede wszystkim filozofią moralną i polityczną oraz teorią wartości. Jego książki i artykuły podejmowały główne zagadnienia teorii moralności; pisał również na tak różnorodne tematy jak równość, nacjonalizm i kosmopolityzm, tolerancja, terroryzm, wyobraźnia, tradycja oraz moralna doniosłość osobistych relacji. Jest autorem “Equality and Tradition” (2010), “Boundaries and Allegiances” (2001), “Human Morality” (1992) oraz “The Rejection of Consequentialism” (1982).
